FIFA World Cup Russia dates not far downfield

When it comes to moving teams and large groups to major world sporting events and tournaments, charter travel is definitely the way to go!

Consider the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, taking place June 14 through July 15, 2018.

Worldwide Charter Group will be offering international charter flights for multi-night stays, as well as day trips from various countries in Europe, with fares to fit every budget and packages to suit every fan.

As the kickoff for first round matches moves closer the field of competition is quickly narrowing to reveal which countries will earn spots and qualify to compete in this once-every-four-year tournament.  Fans and teams are beginning to scramble to arrange bookings for travel to Russia. While many large groups may plan to rely on regularly scheduled flights, most don’t realize how convenient, smart and cost effective chartered aircraft will be for this event.

Whatever your preference, for choice bookings of airlines, charters, hotels or match tickets, it’s a good idea to start those bookings now.

Here’s why: The next few weeks are going to be key in terms of countries playing their final qualifying matches to determine who will be going to World Cup. As a super fan or travel group organizer, you would not want to miss out on watching your favourite countries compete.

The only teams that have qualified so far are Russia (as host); Brazil and Iran (as of Aug. 28). Many other teams are close to qualifying, and there are all kinds of important games in the next couple of weeks that will make or break qualification for many nations. There may even be some surprises!

That’s why it makes sense to book now. You will want to arrange your attendance, at the very latest, before the draw takes place in Russia, in December. Following that draw, when teams are lottery-drawn and grouped in A through H – you’ll know when your matches will be, against whom and where (since Russia will be hosting matches in 11 different cities).

When the draw happens, that’s when the real scramble will begin for tickets and hotel accommodations. There will also be an escalation in the cost of scheduled airfares, along with the disappearance of availability with charter companies.

WCG is urging our agencies and tour operators to talk to us now to commit with minimal deposit before the draw, to have their aircraft and travel arrangments secured.

If you are planning to get in on the action, here are a couple of reference websites with good information:

* FIFA.com has excellent resources and will keep you up-to-date with qualifying results and ticketing information. Ticket prices were released in July and purchase through this website, is the exclusive source. At the last-minute phase, some tickets may be available through some FIFA venue ticketing offices, in the host cities.

* Welcome2018.com is the tourist portal of the Russian government, providing fans travelling to Russia with useful information about the host nation. You can find out a little about the history of each host city; see where the matches will take place, and even learn some basic Russian phrases!
